Five QISCA members are participating as student journalists in the open lab section of quantum wave, a webzine operated by the Korean Society for Quantum Information (QISK): Sungeun Kim and Yeonsu Park from Yonsei University, Hangyeol Kim from Kwangwoon University, Seonggeun Park from Korea University, and Sungbin Lee from Seoul National University. The student journalists visited the QuSI Lab led by Professor Donghun Lee of the Department of Physics at Korea University to conduct an interview. The coverage highlighted the national quantum sensing research landscape, focusing on quantum sensing and imaging technologies utilizing nitrogen-vacancy (NV) centers in diamond and their potential applications. The article also covered the lab's major research achievements, strategies for developing compact and practical quantum sensors, and an introduction to QuLIUS, an educational quantum device. Through this visit, the team observed concrete examples of how quantum technology is expanding beyond research laboratories into industrial and educational settings. For more details, please refer to the article linked on the quantum wave webzine below.

SQRT Launches On-Campus Internship Recruitment

Dec 2, 2025 (Tue)

By Yoonjin Bae

SQRT continues to build an exchange network that connects students with internship opportunities in faculty research labs to support the development of research capabilities and career exploration. Following last year's initiative, a survey for prospective participants in the SQRT on-campus internship program was conducted from December 2nd to 10th, aimed at expanding students' research experience. This recruitment included the research labs of Professor Seungsup Lee from the Department of Physics and Astronomy and Professor Yeonjoon Jung from the Department of Chemistry. Additionally, the research lab guidebook produced last year by the Department of Physics and Astronomy was distributed, providing members with comprehensive information about research labs and internship opportunities.

A team of SQRT members, Woojin Jung, Yoonjin Bae, and Seokhoon Oh, received the Encouragement Award at the "2025 Undergraduate Research Presentation" hosted by the Department of Physics and Astronomy at Seoul National University. The team presented their work titled "Variational Quantum Reconstruction of Spectral and Correlation Physics in Lieb-Lattice J1–J2 Heisenberg Model," demonstrating through simulation that energy spectra can be reconstructed even at small circuit depths using the VQE(Variational Quantum Eigensolver) on the Lieb lattice. This research was also selected as an outstanding project in the Undergraduate Research Support Program organized by the College of Liberal Studies at Seoul National University and will be presented at the Excellence in Research Presentation scheduled for Thursday, January 22, 2026.
